Michael Norris Cary,

Michael Norris Cary, age 57 of Thornville, passed away quietly after a second fierce battle with cancer at Genesis Hospice- Morrison House, Zanesville.

He was born in Columbus on March 22, 1952, to Franklin Dewitt and Alma Eileen (Whaley) Cary. He graduated from West High School and was an avid outdoorsman and hunter. His best days were spent walking and hunting the fields and woods as well as fishing the lakes and streams in Ohio. He had a great passion for his annual hunt to the Great Plains in Wyoming. He was a master carpenter and craftsman for over 30 years, former owner of Z & M Interior trim, a member of Thornport AMVETS Post 51, Buckeye Lake Mens’ Monday night Eucre league and an avid supporter of SCI and NRA.

Michael is survived by his parents, Alma and Frank Cary of Glenford; wife of three years Toni (Russell) Cary; daughter, Shannon Cary (Samuel) Layne; son, Michael Jason Cary, and Pa-Pa to his special granddaughter, Samantha Tierce Layne, all of Thornville; brother, Mark Hampton (Sharon) Cary, Florida; cousins, Ginny Shelton, Georgia and Marsha Cary, Florida; stepson, Terry Lee (Rachel) Wamack, Westerville; step grandchildren, Zack and Jenna Wamack; nieces, Amanda, Alison and Olivia; nephew, Mark Allen Cary, all of Beverly, Ohio; and a host of great nieces, great nephews and cousins.

The family would like to express special thanks to Michael’s friends and hunting companions who took time away from their lives to visit and assist Michael and family during his illness – Gary, Vince, Craig, Tom, Trent, Greg, Rodney, John, Mark, Rick, Paul and Floyd. The family would also like to thank OSU James Cancer Hospital and the Morrison House Hospice- Zanesville for their compassionate care at the time of his need and our needs.

The family will have a private memorial at a later date, cremation has taken place. Memorial donations may be made to support your favorite wildlife conservation or hunting organization and The Morrison House, 713 Forest Avenue, Zanesville, Ohio 43701
