Michael Brunty




Funeral services, celebrating the life of Michael Brunty, 59, of Pataskala, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 17, 2014, in the chapel of the Hoskinson Funeral Home, Kirkersville, with Pastor Rocky Brown as celebrant. Burial with full military honors will follow at Glen Rest Memorial Estates, Reynoldsburg.

Michael died peacefully May 13, 2014, at his home with his wife and children at his side. He was born December 17, 1954, in Columbus, the son of the late Kenneth and Sylvia (Deskins) Brunty. Michael selflessly served as a member of the U.S. Marine Corps. He attended Groveport Madison High School and owned Reynoldsburg Gas Leak and Plumbing Repair for many years, after which he owned and operated Scarlet and Gray Lawncare. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, loved talking to others, “never met a stranger” and was fondly known as “late nite Mike.”

He is survived by his loving family: wife, Barbara (Hill) Brunty, whom he married on March 27, 1976; son, Michael (Cortni) Brunty of Baltimore; daughter, Lorie (Eric) Brockman of Pataskala; grandchildren, Alee, Brooklyn, Haedan, Baylee and Brody; sisters, Patricia (Bobby Joe) McClelland and Kathy (Kenny) Knight; brother, Gary Brunty; sister-in-law, Linda (Gary) Jenkins; and many nieces, nephews and beloved friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Butch and Donnie Brunty.
