A funeral service, celebrating the life of Michael A. “Butch” Brown, age 57, of Columbus, formerly of Johnstown, will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 30. 2016, in the chapel of the Thornville home of Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service, with Pastor Doug Lynn officiating. Burial will follow at Zion Ridge Cemetery.
Mike was born in Elizabethtown, Kentucky on December 6, 1958, to the late Leonard W. Brown and Anne (Blackstone) Wilson. He passed away at HCR Manor in Pleasantville on June 25, 2016.
Mike graduated from Sheridan High School, Class of 1977 and attended Ohio Northern University. He was a sales representative with Hard Fire Suppression Systems for many years, where he was an expert in his field. He was an avid sports fan, enjoyed watching football, cooking, was very mechanical, and he was always working on a project. He especially enjoyed spending time with his “Buddy”, his grandson, Laken, where he was his caregiver.
Survivors include his mother and step-father, Anne and Rodney Wilson; sons, Anthony “Tony” (fiancé, Kaitlin Grenell) Brown and Andrew Brown; grandson, Laken Boyd; sisters, Missy (Tim) Link, Susan (Michael) McNeal, Christy (Alan) Suder and Deandra Yavorsky; nieces and nephews, Hayes and Journy Link, Addison and Riley Lamb, and Walker, Jaret and Delaney Yavorsky; family friend, Barry Detwiler; and numerous cousins and friends.
In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Tara Brown; maternal grandparents, Jerry and Carrie Blackstone; and paternal grandparents, A.M. and Mae Brown.
