Meredith Junior Laughrey




Meredith Junior Laughrey, 76, of Thurston, died Thursday, December 17, 2009, at the Pickering House. He retired from Owens Corning and Allen Refactors in Pataskala, Ohio. Meredith played softball and enjoyed fishing, hunting, golf and bowling.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Mildred F. Laughrey; sons, James Laughrey and Timothy Laughrey, both of Newark, Ohio; son-in-law, Joe Bowman of Newark, Ohio, two granddaughters; a great grandson; brothers, Clarence Laughrey of Columbus, Ohio and Tommy Laughrey of Florida step-children, Marilyn (Rick) Patterson of Londonderry, Ohio, William Hite of Pleasantville, Ohio, Carolyn (Phil Noland) Sharp of Lancaster, Ohio, Donna (Steve) Thompson of Thurston, Ohio, and James (Susan) Hite of Lancaster, Ohio; nine step-granddaughters; and two step-grandsons; several step-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Garnet Bowman; grandson, Don Laughrey; grandson, Hunter Barber; parents, Meredith and Stella Laughrey; grandparent, Harley Bullock; and sisters, Joan riley and Letha Taylor.

Funeral service was December 21, 2009, at the Johnson-Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Baltimore with Rev. Karl Hartmann and Dr. Rebecca Maples officiating. Burial followed in Hampson cemetery, Pleasantville.

Memorial gifts may be given to the Pickering House or Thurston Fire Department.
