A funeral service, celebrating the life of Mary E. Lyle Helser, 87, of Thornville, was held December 3, 2012, in the Thornville home of The Hoskinson-Schoedinger Funeral Home with Pastor Dave Helser as celebrant. Burial followed at Lutheran Reformed Cemetery.
Mary died peacefully November 28, 2012, at her home following a brief illness. She was born in Thornville on May 3, 1925, the daughter of the late Robert E. and Ocie (Franks) Lyle. She worked for many years at the phone company in Greenville and as the secretary at Lancaster Sales.
An active member of the Thornville community, Mary was a member of the Olivet Church of the Brethren and Ladies Aid, Treasurer of Olivet Brethren Cemetery, Perry County Homemakers and had volunteered at the local food pantry. She also worked at the Glenford Lions Steam Show. Mary enjoyed traveling, gardening, crafting, quilting and spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by her sons, David (Manetha) Lyle of Thornville and Marvin Leeper of Phoenix, Arizona; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sisterin law, Lois Ann Lyle, two stepsons; and many step-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Percy Leeper and Harold Helser; brothers, Delbert and Charles L Lyle; and one stepdaughter.
