Marvine E. Taggart (nee Groves)




Marvine E. Taggart (nee Groves), formerly of Baltimore, died Wednesday, December 30, 2209 one day before her 93rd birthday, after suffering a stroke December 13th at Lanfair Center.

Marvine was born to the late Russell and Florence Groves of Lancaster and was a 1934 graduate of Liberty Union High School. She had been employed by the Fairfield National Bank and for over 50 years was the organist at Beulah E.U.B. Church in Baltimore. She also played the organ for the Smith Funeral Homes for over 25 years.

Marvine was a wonderful, loving wife, mother, sister and friend and is survived by two daughters, Nancy (Jack) Bowers of Lancaster, and Florann (Frank) Ayers of Hurst, TX; six grandchildren, Debbie (Allen) Cochran, Hilliard, OH, Dianne Frees of New Concord, OH, Russell (Beth) Frees, of Naperville, IL, Jeanette (Phillip) Thornton of Charlotte, N.C., Craig (Megan) Ayers of Cooleyville, TX and Jeff (Jennifer) Ayers of Ft. Worth, TX; eleven great grandchildren; and one great-great grandson; sisters, Martha Littrell and Irene Kellner, both of Baltimore; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 72 years, Eddie.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Friday January 8, at 2:00 p.m. at the Johnson-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Baltimore with the Rev. Diane Berger officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to FairHope Hospice or St. Michaels United Church of Christ in Marvine’s memory.
