I would like to respond to the letter “Mayor asks voters to support police levy” in the Beacon dated September 29. I had to laugh when Mayor Kalish said, “Baltimore rarely asks voters for more money.” No, they don’t, they just take it such as the commuters tax that the village didn’t get to vote on. Where does that money go?
I have lived in Baltimore for several years and it is a great community but its getting very expensive to live here. As Mayor Kalish also writes, “These are challenging times for many of us”. This is true. We can’t afford to keep incurring such tax increases.
I do support the fire district and police department, but these are challenging times and many people can’t afford it.
