Louella Ruckman Baughman


Louella Ruckman Baughman, 88, of Baltimore passed away at the Pickering House in Lancaster on Sunday, December 2, 2018. Louella was born in Thurston, on January 4, 1930, where she was a long-term resident.

She is preceded in death by Floyd Baughman, her husband of 65 years; her parents, Hazel and Charles Ruckman; seven brothers; and one sister. She is survived by her children, Mike (Joyce) King, Gene Baughman, Susan Baughman and LouAnn Peters; six grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; brother, Richard Ruckman; and sisters Patricia Heistand and Carol Vanvelzor.

Louella was known for her cooking, especially her pies. Her favorite time of the year was attending the Fairfield County Fair with family and friends. She cooked and baked for days in advance while family would travel cross-country to be there. Louella was also an amazing euchre player who always managed to have the ‘stopper’. Many loaners fell to her card playing skills.

Funeral service was Dec. 6, 2018, at the Johnson-Smith Funeral Home, Baltimore. A graveside service followed at Primitive Baptist Cemetery, Thurston.
