Licking County housing market continues to be strong

NEWARK – Licking County’s average home sold price was $214,946 through January this year, up 5.9% over the first month of 2018. There were 122 existing homes and condominiums sold the first month of 2019, down 3.9% from 2018 when there were 127 homes sold in the first month of the year, according to the Columbus REALTORS Multiple Listing Service.
“The market in Licking County remains strong, with our average sales price rising. This is a great time to list a home, as there remains a shortage of supply,” said 2018 Licking County Board of REALTORS President, Charmin Patterson. “Low interest rates continue to provide opportunity for buyers to buy more for their money and fulfill their dream of home ownership.”
The inventory of homes and condos for sale in Licking County was 334 at the end of January, with a 1.6 month’s supply of inventory. There were 178 new listings that came onto the market in January, compared to 136 in January 2018.
Homes sold in January, spent an average of 45 days on market (from listing to close), down 18.2% from 55 days in January 2018. Homes going into contract totaled 166 in January.
The statistics are provided by the Columbus Realtors® Multiple Listing Service (MLS).
