Leo F. Marriott, 90, of Lancaster, former resident of Newark, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2010. He was born on June 8, 1919, to the late Mary Elizabeth (Hall) and Hal Marriott in Newark.
Leo was a World War II veteran serving in the US Army and retired from Owens-Corning in Newark, with 20 years of service. He also worked for the Hebron Auction House for 20 years and owned an auction house and new furniture store in St. Louisville, Ohio. He was a member of Miracle Hill Church and God of All Ages Church on Hopewell-Church Rd.
He is survived by his five children, Bill (Beverly) Marriott of Newark, Donna Roberts of Newark, Jane (Bill) Jones of Hebron, Wayne Marriott of Millersport, and Dorothy Carol Boles of Newark; 13 grandchildren; 26 great
grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren; step-children, Bernita (Joe) Jordan of Athens, Ohio, and Jakelynn Brown of Circleville, Ohio; three step-grandchildren; and six step-great grandchildren; special niece and caregiver, Teresa; and also other nieces and nephews; four sisters-in-law; four brothersin law; and many more family and friends. We will all miss Leo very much.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby in 2001; son, Jack Marriott; parents; six brothers; two sisters; sisters-in-law, Alpha Herron and Marybelle Gaskins; brother-in-law, William Gaskins.
Services were held Jan. 12, 2010, in the Frank E. Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Lancaster, with Pastor Bart Barker officiating. Burial was in Floral Hills Memory Gardens.
