HEBRON – Lakewood School Board members hope to name a replacement for former board member, Bill Gulick, at a special board meeting on Wednesday, May 9.
Gulick resigned April 19, one day after board members rejected, by a 3-2 vote, Superintendent Mary Kay Andrews’ recommendation that high school assistant principal Kevin Krier be promoted to high school principal. Gulick and board member Tara Houdeshell supported Andrews’ recommendation. Krier was one of three candidates for the post. Board members were not involved in the interview process.
Applications to fill Gulick’s unexpired term, which runs through December 31, 2019, are due in the Superintendent’s Office by 3 p.m. on Friday, May 4. Applications are available on the district’s website at http://www.lakewoodlocal.k12. oh.us/protected/ArticleView. aspx?iid=633P2PY&dasi=4G2YI
School board members in Ohio must be at least 18 years old, a resident of the district and a registered voter.
The Board has 30 days to name a replacement for Gulick. He served since 2012. Andrews said, “Mr. Gulick served countless hours supporting the students of the Lakewood Local School District. I personally thank him for his dedication.”
The special meeting is set for 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 9, in the high school library. Board candidates will be interviewed separately during an extended executive or closed session. Board members will then discuss the candidates in executive session, before returning to an open session where they will select the new member.
