Well…time is flying! Memorial Day weekend has passed and it’s just a short three weeks until 4th of July weekend. I know many are getting tired of the repetion, but I need to say it every week… the fireworks are set for FRIDAY, JULY 2, at 10pm. Please spread the word.
So many have repeatedly commented how much they enjoy the simulcast. Good news, we have just confirmed WKNO Kool Classics 101.7 will once again provide the simulcast during the show. If you have not tuned in before, you should! I believe you will be greatly surprised by the wonderful job Tom and his staff do in arranging our music.
T-shirts, t-shirts everywhere! That’s the way my office was before the shirts were distributed. You can purchase them at Buckeye Lake Place (740-605-8924), Buckeye Lake Marina (740-467-2697), Pizza Cottage (740-928-1144), Millersport General Store (740-467-2500), The Beachcomber (740-467-2272) and Catfish Charlie’s (740-928-7174). If you visit one of these locations and they don’t have the size you need, give me a call. We have youth and adult T-shirts and women’s and men’s tank tops. Not all locations have a full inventory, but if you need a shirt, I’ll get you one!
When we think of all the time, money and work that goes into this show, it just isn’t possible without your very generous donations. Your help is particularly valuable this year. Whatever you can afford, we will gladly accept. Please make your checks payable to BLASST and mail them to 13284 West Bank Dr., Millersport, OH 43046.
There is another huge group of people that often get overlooked. As I sat at a planning meeting last week, the reality hit me in the face. I had no idea of the amount of time our local public service people have put into this event for our community. I was amazed to see our local municipalities, county and state offices work together to pull this off, all with your safety in mind.
The agencies and organizations making your fireworks show possible are: ODNR’s Divisions of Parks, Watercraft, and Natural Areas & Preserves; Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office; Licking Township Fire Company; Buckeye Lake Police Department, Richland Township Fire, Millersport Police Department, Thornville/Thorn Township Fire Department, Millersport Fire Department, Fairfield County Dive Team, Buckeye Lake Fire Department, Fairfield County EMA, Licking County Dive Team, Licking County EMA, USCG Auxiliary, Fairfield County Special Ops, and the Walnut Township Fire Marshall.
When you see this list of great service people….it makes this year’s theme, “BLASST, A Community Affair, Respect For Our Service People is Always in The Air” that much more meaningful. Please, if given the opportunity when you’re around the lake, thank these fine service people. Many people pitch in to make this event a success!
