Joseph Peter Lofink, Sr.




A funeral service celebrating the life of Joseph Peter Lofink, Sr., age 84, of Harbor Hills, was held March 15, 2017, at the Hebron New Life United Methodist Church, with Pastor Jeff Gill officiating. Military honors were observed by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.

Joe was born June 12, 1932, in Stowe, Pennsylvania, to the late Raymond Peter and Margaret (Noa) Lofink. He passed away unexpectedly March 11, 2017, at Mount Carmel East Hospital.

Joe was well known in the tristate area of the gas and oil industry with over 50 years of gas measurement and pressure control experience. After graduation, he attended the business program at Penn State, the school of engineering at Pitt University and the IGT Gas Distribution courses. He then worked for Chaplin Fulton Manufacturing on Neville Island in Pennsylvania. He later worked for Rockwell International as the R & D Engineer for Development. He moved to Ohio to manage Universal Lancaster Corporation in Lancaster, and later founded the National Energy Service of Zanesville.

Joe was founder and CEO of his own company from 1991-2013. JPL Mfg. in Hanover is a gas measurement and pressure control specialist. During his business years, he had applied for and attained numerous patents.

Joe was a veteran of the United States Army and served during the Korean Conflict from 1953-55. He was a former member of the Ohio Gas Association, the Ohio Oil and Gas Association, the Independent Oil and Gas Association of West Virginia, the Kentucky and the Michigan Gas Associations and the Buckeye Lake Yacht Club. For the past 40 years, Joe and his wife and a fun group of friends got together often for card club. He put many miles on his beloved red Triumph convertible and enjoyed restoring old cars, fishing, boating and loved to travel.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Nancy C. (Ruble) Walters Lofink; five children, Joseph P., Jr. (Lynn) Lofink of Thornville, Michele Denise “Mickey” (Ronald) Gray of Newark, Linda (Marty) Savage of Thornville, Kathleen A. Ryder of Edgewood, New Mexico and Scott (Beth) Walters of Hebron; 10 grandchildren, Jason Gray, Jennifer Wygle, Justin Gray, Josara Lofink, Amber Phillips, Michael Beish, Benjamin, Julian and Alex Savage and Josh Walters; 21 greatgrandchildren and one on the way; sister, Margaret (Gary) Laughlin of Delmont, PA; brothers, Robert (Julie) Lofink of Greer, SC and George (Sally) Lofink of Las Vegas, NV; sisters-in-law, Norma Lofink of Coraopolis, PA and Patricia Lofink of Adamsville, PA; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by two brothers, Jerry Lofink and Raymond Lofink; and son-in-law, Roger Ryder.
