Jona W. Hite, Jr., of Pleasantville, passed away August 30, 2016, at his home following a brief illness. He was born in Fairfield County, the son of the late Jona W. and Felicia I. (Holt) Hite Sr. He was a graduate of Walnut Township High School, Class of 1939, and was a life long farmer. He enjoyed music, playing his guitar and entertaining others. He volunteered at Olivedale and for other senior citizen groups.
He is survived by his loving family: daughters, Nancy Hite of Thornville, Georgia (Archie) Robinson of Pleasantville, Janet Margot (Martin) Crow of Thurston, and Rita (Rick) Fields of Manchester, KY; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Arthur (Norma Jean) Hite and a sister Joan (Charles) George both of Lancaster; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Edna “Toots” Hite in 1983; a granddaughter, Alicia Turner; three brothers; and two sisters.
Private graveside services were held August 30, 2016, in the Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Lancaster. Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service, Thornville, was entrusted with arrangements.
The family prefers that memorial contributions be directed to the American Heart Association in his honor.
