A funeral service for John “Jim” C. “Red” Callison, age 86, of Hebron was held November 15, 2014, at the First Baptist Church of Newark, with Pastor Jim Addy officiating. Burial was in Licking Cemetery, Hebron where military honors were conducted by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.
Jim passed away November 12, 2014, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born September 1, 1928, in Springdale, West Virginia, to the last Andrew Bentley and Mary Lynn (Anderson) Callison.
Jim served in the Korean Conflict as an Army Sergeant First Class. He retired from Rockwell International and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Newark. He enjoyed life on the farm, tending the animals, planting his massive garden and working on his numerous Gravely tractors.
Jim was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.
He is survived by his loving wife, Alice (Pierce) Callison; three children, Darlene (Randy) Ogle, David Callison and Darletta (Tom) Poos, the “apple of his eye”; grandson, Andy Poos; “adopted” daughter, Donna Ours; sisters, Mary Bernice Carter, Arlene (Bill) Hines, and Vivian (Wilbur) Gwinn; sister-inlaw, Phyllis Callison; numerous Pierce brothers and sisters-inlaw; and 35 nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by a granddaughter, Allyson Leigh Poos; brothers, William and Oscar; sister and brother-in-law, Virginia and Spencer Patterson; and brotherin law, Harry Carter.
