John F. Helphrey, Jr .




John F. Helphrey, Jr., 67 of Thornville died April 13, 2014, at Licking Memorial Hospital.

He was born November 19, 1946, in Newark to the late John F. “Pete” Helphrey, Sr. and Helen (VanFossen) Helphrey. Mr. Helphrey worked for over 35 years at Owens-Corning. He enjoyed drinking coffee and visiting at Trout’s.

Survivors include his son, John W. (Carrie) Helphrey of Newark; daughters, Lori (Mark) Dwiggins and June (James) Britton; sisters, Judith (Charlie) Hollar and Joan (Rick) Crozier, all of Newark; eight grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

In accordance with Mr. Helphrey’s wishes there will be no calling hours or service. A private inurnment will take place at a later date at Newark Memorial Gardens.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Dawes Arboretum.

The Newark Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home is assisting the family.
