Jean Ann Warthman was born July 17, 1931, and passed away on July 13, 2013, surrounded by her loving family. She was raised on the family farm in Carroll, by parents, Halvin V Benson and Mary (Courtright) Benson. She graduated from Carroll High School, Class of 1949.
Jean Ann married the love of her life Lewie Warthman on September 17th, 1949, and raised their family in Millersport. She was a hairdresser for 42 years with her shop in her home. Jean Ann loved spending time with her family and attended countless social activities of her children and grandchildren’s. She enjoyed crafts, cross stitch, ceramics, and reading books until she lost her vision from Macular Degeneration 10 years ago. She was an inspiration to her family as she dealt with her blindness with drive and determination to be as independent and self reliant as possible. She then bravely battled persistent and chronic pain with courage and strength which has proved to be a powerful testament to her faith.
Jean Ann is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 47 years, Lewis E. Warthman; parents, Halvin and Mary Benson; brother, Jack Benson; infant brother, Richard Eugene; and father and mother in law, Arthur and Eva Warthman.
Jean Ann is survived by daughters, Mary Lu (John) Bowman and Lisa (Joe) Sandbrink; sons, Michael (Mary) Warthman and Gregg (Dawn) Warthman; brothers, Robert (Rosie) Benson and Jerry (Virginia) Benson; sisterin law, Sharon Wathman (Dean) Morelock; 11 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; many close friends; and her two companion cats, Baby and Lola.
Funeral service was held July 17, 2013, in the Halteman-Fett & Dyer Funeral Home with Pastors Jerry Wiles officiating. Burial followed at Betzer Cemetery, Carroll.
