Funeral services for James Adam Hunt, 46, of Newark, were held January 23, 2012, at the Family of Faith Community Church, with Pastors Curtis Martin and Gary LaRue officiating. Interment followed in Newark Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Hunt died at his home on Monday, January 16, 2012. He was born in Newark on October 25, 1965, to Iva (Miller) Hunt of Newark, and the late Lawrence W. Hunt.
Adam worked as a civilian contractor for KBR and spent four years in Iraq as a heavy truck operator. He was awarded the Defense of Freedom Award by the United States Army in honor of his heroism and selfless service beyond the call of duty.
He was a graduate of Lakewood High School where he played on the baseball and basketball teams. He loved camping and the outdoors, and was an avid scrabble player.
In addition to his mother, Adam is survived by his wife, Kimberlea (Winters) Hunt of the home; his step children, Shawn Winters and Brandon Reynard, both of Newark; his brother, Stephen Hunt of Buckeye Lake; uncles, Dan (Melinda) Miller of Somerset, and Jim Miller of Ashville, N.C.; his stepgrandchildren, Gaven, Kristin, and Breonna; his niece and nephew, Amanda Hunt and Steven Hunt; and great-niece, Trinity Hunt.
