James A. Vilt, age 64, of Millersport, passed away on January 2, 2013. He was born on May 6, 1948 in Joliet, IL, to the late Joseph “Tut” Vilt and Mary (Pallas) Vilt.
Jim was raised and educated in Coal City. After graduating from Coal City High School, he entered the Army and later the Army Airborne serving in the Air Artillery for 18 months. He later was employed by the FBI and finished his career working for Seven Eleven convenience stores, eventually retiring to Ohio with some of his Army buddies. He was also a member of the Buckeye Lake VFW Post 1388.
He is survived by his brother, Keith (Jill) Vilt of Coal City; a sister, Mary Ann Vilt of Morris; a brother in law, Bill Willet; nieces, Julie (Darrin) Hutchings, and Devan (Jason) Gagliardo of Coal City; nephews, Jeff (Jen) Vilt of Coal City and David (Randi) Jackman of Gardner; great niece, Madeline Hutchings; great nephews, Jacob, Joshua, and Joseph Hutchings and Easton Jackman; and a special Vietnam buddy, Robert Lee of Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Madeline Jackman Willet; and a brotherin law, Melvin William Jackman,
Funeral services were held January 9, 2013, at The Ferrari Funeral Chapel in Coal City, with Father John Hornicak officiating. Interment with full military honors will be conducted at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL. . Online guest book available at www.ferrarifuneral.com
