Jack David Carbaugh, 81, Athens, formerly of Hebron, passed away Tuesday, January 19, 2010, at Holzer Medical Center, Gallipolis.
He was born on January 19, 1929, in Albany, the son of the late Herbert H. and Ruth Robinette Carbaugh. He graduated as valedictorian from Albany High School in 1946 and was a U.S. Air Force and Navy veteran. He retired from AEP where he worked as a rate procurement officer. Mr. Carbaugh and his wife were the former owners of the Hebron Greenhouse. Jack was a member of the Albany VFW 9893 and served with the honor guard, a member and president of Albany Senior Citizens and Albany Alumni Association.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Betty Mae Wolfe Carbaugh; children, Joseph (Cindy) of Newark, Daniel (Kim) of Hebron, Timothy (Rae) of Newark and Michael of Athens; grandchildren, Annisa (Lance ) Winn of Hebron, Angela Carbaugh of Buckeye Lake, Brian (Amy) Carbaugh of Lancaster, Megan Carbaugh of Vanatta, Joshua (Sara) of Hamilton, Thomas Carbaugh of Plymouth, IN, Brandon (Lindsay) Carbaugh of Thornville, Brittany (J.P.) Keefe of Newark, and David Carbaugh of Athens; and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by a son, David; sister, Phyllis; and brothers, Robert and James.
Services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Bigony-Jordan Funeral Home with Pastor Roger Hayes officiating. Burial will be in Alexander Cemetery, where military graveside services will be conducted by Albany VFW Post 9893, Athens VFW Post 3477, and KT Crossen American Legion Post 21. Family and friends may call Thursday 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
