J. Herbert Miller

J. Herbert Miller, 92, of Thornville, passed away peacefully November 26, 2016, at FairHope Hospice Pickering House in Lancaster.

Herbert was born September 26, 1924, at his home in Rix Mills, Ohio, the son of the late John Thomas and Wilma Adams Miller.

He was a 1942 graduate of Chandlersville High School, and a member of Thornville United Methodist Church. Herbert served on the Perry County Fair Board for 28 years, was a 4-H advisor, and a lifetime member of the Perry County Farm Bureau. He attended the Muskingum County Fair for 92 consecutive years. Herbert was a tool and die supervisor at Rockwell for 35 years, a lifetime farmer and a lifelong steward of the land.

Herbert is survived by a daughter, D. June Blind of Naples, FL; three sons, J. Kenneth (Connie) Miller of Somerset, Ronald L. (Terrie) Miller of Thornville, and David L. (Jennifer) Miller of Lancaster; 11 grandchildren, Melanie, Amanda and John, J.B., Jodi and Jessi, Andy, Kellie and Ryan, and Jenna and Collin; 15 greatgrandchildren; and two sisters, Ada Mae Watts of Duncan Falls and JoAnn Sparks of Austin, TX.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Miller (Feb. 13, 2000); and two brothers, Virgil and Donald Miller.

Funeral service was held November 30, 2016, at the Bope- Thomas Funeral Home in Somerset, with Ron Grubb officiating. Burial followed in Fairmont Cemetery.
