A funeral service for J. Evan Clark, age 92, of Heath, will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, January 24, at the Newark Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service, with Reverend Mark Katrick officiating. A private burial will follow in Lutheran Reform Cemetery in Thornville.
Mr. Clark passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2014, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. He was born March 17, 1921, in Glenford, to John W. and Ada M. (Orr) Clark.
Mr. Clark was a Staff Sergeant serving in the United States Army Air Force during World War II in the Troop Carrier Command Division. He was a 1940 graduate of Glenford High School and later graduated from the Coyne Electrical School in Chicago, Illinois.
He owned and operated Clark & Lamme Television and Appliance in Thornville. He served as a councilman in Thornville from 1955-1981 and was a charter member and president of the Thornville Lions Club. He was also a member of the West End Church of Christ in Newark.
He is survived by his companion of fourteen years, Evelyn Nethers; and a brother, William H. Clark of Tacoma, Washington,
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters; Jean Laube and Ann Clum.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home, 59 North Fifth Street.
