Serving all the communities of the Buckeye Lake Region

It’s the season to give

LAKE AREA– Pizza “Ria’s,” Too owner Ria Fox said she’s proud of everyone who contributed to the Thurston-Walnut Township Fire Department’s holiday toy drive, particularly Grant Marsh, a young man from Pleasantville who donated money he raised collecting recyclable cans to purchase presents for local children in need.

“John Layton of the Thurston fire department has given the toy drive the department holds each year his heart and soul,” Fox said. She volunteered her pizza shop as a drop-off spot for donations and toys, and as of Wednesday afternoon, the day the toy drive ended, 179 toys were donated.

Fox said she did what she could to encourage donations and show appreciation by offering two gift certificates, each worth $11.50, for every five people who donated items to the drive.

In Millersport, the Millersport Volunteer Firefighters Association sponsors its 15th annual holiday toy drive. All proceeds benefit less fortunate Millersport area children. New toys and monetary donations are accepted 24/7 at the Millersport and Fairfield Beach fire stations. Please make checks payable to Walnut Township White Christmas. Call (740) 644-6624 for more information.

Across the lake in Thornville, the Thorn Township Firefighters Association, Thornville Lions Club Thornville Methodist Church, Grace Lutheran Church, Trinity United Church of Christ, Village of Thornville employees and Thorn Township Trustees have joined forces to bring the Spirit of Giving for those who are facing financial challenges this year.

Donation checks are payable to the Thorn Township Firefighters Association care of Jason Emmert Treasurer. Mail to: 13780 Zion Road, Thornville, Ohio 43076.
