It’s state tournament time

HEBRON – The state cross country tournament returns to National Trail Raceway Saturday, Nov. 5.

Boys and girls will compete Saturday in three divisions. The Division II Boys Championship race starts at 11:45 a.m. Sheridan High School qualified as a team. Members competing are: Luke Brown, Kyle Clellan, Noah Deville, Brandon Lanning, Jed Shumaker, Levi Sweazy and Mitchell Wells.

Individuals qualifying include Liberty Union-Thurston’s Kelton French and Lakewood’s David Drushal.

The Girls Division II championship run begins at 2:15 p.m. Liberty-Union Thurston qualified as a team. Members competing are: Kenley French, Katie Hanson, Sydnee Mangette, Alaina Miller, Layna Miracle, Lauren Springer and Sarah Staples. Sheridan’s Anna Foster qualified as an individual.

All six races are 5,000 meters.

Two area football teams start the long road to reach the state finals. In Division III, #8 seed Sheridan (8-2) travels to meet #1 seed Columbus St. Francis De Sales (10-0) at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 5.

In Division V, #7 seed Liberty Union (7-3) travels to meet #3 Sugarcreek Garaway (10-0) at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 5.
