BUCKEYE LAKE – Once again Mother Nature cooperated with Friday evening’s rain ending about an hour before our annual BLASST.
The mini-BLASST turned out not to be very ‘mini’ and was another spectacular 20+ minute show. But it was strange looking across the lake to the Fairfield Beach launch site and seeing only a handful of boats on the water. Boats are typically packed so close together that you could almost walk from boat to boat from Fairfield Beach to the North Shore.
Crowds, particularly in the Cranberry Bay area, were much smaller, looking more like an early season weekend, not the summer’s premier holiday weekend. Quite a few homes were dark. Large parties were the exception this year.
Three intrepid boaters keep the 4th of July boat parade tradition alive.
