There are certain days when the stars are aligned and life is good in the Port. Today is one of those days. First, Les Ross completed the reconstruction of the monument at Veteran’s Park. Les is a veteran and donated his services as a mason to rebuild what the wind destroyed last summer.
Second, Donna Fox-Moore, Kathryn Clausen and Jeff Porter made it possible to raze the eyesore on the corner of Gift and Lancaster streets. They made sure the paperwork and legal steps were followed in accordance with Attorney General Mike Dewine’s Moving Ohio Forward Program.
Finally, the Millersport Pool opened on Tuesday June 3, 2014. It passed the health department inspection and opened due to the efforts of many people. All of the following contributed in making it possible: Tom Boso, John Wood, Gilbert Arnold, Mike Bergum, Bill Yates, Pete Kramer, Dave Levacy, Mike Stutske, Brandon Long, Chris Stotts and Gary Monroe. The top of the list is occupied by Lesa Brown and her family.
Thank you seems inadequate for everything all of these people have done for our community. It never fails, when the task at hand seems insurmountable and failure looms in the horizon, good people doing good deeds makes this place we call home “a great place to live and raise kids.”
