Serving all the communities of the Buckeye Lake Region

It takes a community to keep the Sweet Corn Festival going for 70 years

Editor:

In a few weeks the 70th Sweet Corn Festival will be held on August 31 – September 3 in Millersport. Much effort goes into the planning, preparation and execution of our area’s largest volunteer fundraising project. Without the support of several hundred businesses, elected officials, community groups and our tolerant neighbors, the Millersport Lions Club would not be successful.

While we wait for the dam restoration project to be completed and the Greater Buckeye Area Historical Society’s new paddlewheel showboat to navigate the waters of the beautiful Buckeye Lake, I encourage all of our loyal supporters, longtime attendees and dependable friends to continue to shop and purchase services and merchandise from those terrific businesses within the greater Buckeye Lake Area and the tri-county communities that continue to support us by purchasing advertisements, donating gift prizes, sponsoring contests, loaning equipment and just pitching in whenever we ask for help. They are always there for us, so let’s help them through these challenging times.

Stop by Historic Lions Park and you will see many Lions busy getting ready for festival week. The various community organizations that operate food and game booths have already started making improvements to better serve our patrons.

Thanks to everyone that are already making plans to join us for four fantastic days of the best value for summer fun…the 70th Sweet Corn Festival.
