How you can help our hospitalized veterans this year

Editor,

We, the members of VFW Auxiliary #1388, would like to thank all our friends that made generous donations to our hospital collections this past year.

We are asking your readers to keep this list handy and each month pick up an item or two from our list. It worked great last year and we are hoping to bring in even more essentials for our Veterans this year. We will be doing the same thing this year with some changes. There are some professionals and businesses that have agreed to donate All of certain items so we can collect other things for our Veterans in the VA Hospital in Chillicothe.

Jan.- Bath Soap
Feb.- Shampoo
Mar.- Powered laundry soap
April- Dryer sheets
May- Toothbrush holders
June- Flip flops (shower shoes)
July- White crew soaks
Aug.- Conditioner
Sept.- Travel soap containers
Oct.- Coffee
Nov.-Individually wrapped
snacks (crax, cookies, candy)
Dec.- Deodorant (that contains no
alcohol)

There will be a poster up at The VFW telling what is being collected that month. Most every item, except coffee, can be purchased at the Dollar Tree for less than a buck. We send these items monthly to The VA. It makes such a difference to our Veterans just to know we are trying to make their lives easier.

We will also be having a rummage sale in March. Please look through your house and garage and donate to us. We can pick up or meet you at The VFW with items.

We can’t accept clothes except clean, unstained baby clothes and sports team related clothing. We cannot accept bedding(mattresses or box springs). Watch for our ad in this paper. We will also be doing Souper Bowl/Super Bowl on Super Bowl Sunday so watch for that ad in this paper also.

We work very hard to provide minor comforts to our Veterans. Every penny we make goes to help them, our community, or our kids in the community. Please help us help them.

God Bless Our Men and Women who Served and God Bless The United States of America.
