NEWARK – If you missed the Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day August 11 at Thornville Elementary School you have got another chance to get rid of hazardous wastes in your basement or garage.
Residents of Fairfield,Licking and Perry counties can make their homes and garages safer by dropping off household hazardous waste from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 25 at OSU/COTC -Newark Campus off Country Club Drive.
Waste will ONLY be accepted from households. NO business, school or industrial waste will be accepted.
Materials should be stored in their original containers whenever possible. Leaking containers should be wrapped in newspaper and placed in a bucket filled with an absorbent such as kitty litter. DO NOT COMBINE OR MIX MATERIALS!
Acceptable waste includes: antifreeze; batteries; diesel fuel, kerosene, waste oil and gasoline; gas cylinders; paint thinners & solvents; insecticides, herbicides and pesticides; florescent lights; poisons; adhesives; mercury; strippers; driveway sealer; pool chemicals; photo chemicals; fertilizers; lighter fluid; creosote; acids; chlorine; fireextinguishers; wood sealers and preservatives; and varnish. Explosives, firearms and ammunition will also be accepted.
Please do NOT bring empty containers of any kind, dried paint, paint (dry it up and dispose in regular trash), tires, appliances or electronics.
