Henderson Harmon Butcher, 92, formerly of Hebron, passed away peacefully on December 12, 2017, in Newark, following an extended illness. He was born in Weeksbury, Kentucky, on October 4, 1925, the son of the late Hiram and June (Kistner) Butcher. He served honorably in the US Army during WWII. He worked in construction, and was a member of Local #423 in Columbus.
A Baptist by faith, he was a former member of the Buckeye Lake Eagles, Druids at Newark, and Masonic Lodge, Beechwood in Detroit, Michigan. He also was a former member of the Newark Post of the American Legion.
He is survived by his daughters, Samantha Butcher of Utica and Anita Napier of Tennessee; sons, Bobby of Columbus and Mike of Utica; a step-son, David McNamara of Newark; six nieces and nephews; and his care-giver of many years, Ruby Caudill.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his many sisters and brothers.
Honoring Harmon’s wishes, there will be no services at this time. Graveside inurnment will follow at a later date in the Arlis Bates Cemetery, Bevinsville, Kentucky.
