Helen E. McDaniel, April 13, 1919-March 23, 2010, died peacefully early Tuesday morning following an extended illness.
She was born in Groveport, the daughter of the late Warren A. and Clara Ell (Eddins) Simms.
Helen was an active member of the Buckeye Lake Ladies Guild, Volunteered at the Board of Elections, and was a member of the First Community Church at Buckeye Lake.
She and her husband, Wilbur were the proprietors of McDaniel’s Market for many years in Buckeye Lake, which became McDaniel’s Antique Store. She enjoyed crafting, going to flea markets, riding her purple golf cart, being with her friends and family, and going to her cabin in Blue Lake, Michigan. She also enjoyed taking walks, fishing and traveling.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wilbur McDaniel; brother, Eugene Simms; step-son, John McDaniel; and her grandson, Alvin Warren McDaniel II.
She is survived by son, Al (Ramona) McDaniel of Millersport; step-sons, George (Phyllis) McDaniel and Daniel (Jan) Dawson; brother, Floyd (Donna) Simms of Kirkersville; sister, Anna Mae Powers of Columbus; grand- daughters, Dwann (Kevin) TIttle, Meriya (Robert) Wyeth, Amanda McDaniel and Danielle
McDaniel; many grand and step-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; and friends.
Her family will receive friends on Friday, March 26, 2010, from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the Hoskinson Funeral Home, 285 E Main St. in Kirkersville, where Funeral Services celebrating her life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 27, 2010, with Pastor Mark Demick as celebrant. Burial will follow at Glen Rest Memorial Estates, Reynoldsburg.
