A funeral service for Hazel Jane Vermaaten will be held at 7pm, on Thursday, June 22, 2017, at the Brucker-Kishler Funeral Home in Newark. Pastor Jeff Belt will officiate. Burial will be in the New Straitsville Cemetery at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 23. Family and friends may call from 1pm to 3pm and 6pm-7pm, on Thursday, at the funeral home, 985 N. 21st Street.
Jane, age 80, of Newark, passed away June 17, 2017. She was born August 18, 1936, in Hocking County, a daughter of Ilem C. and Rita Mae (Townsend) Weaver. She dearly loved her family and enjoyed caring for others and always thought of others first. She crocheted and enjoyed CB radios as a hobby and was a member of Licking County REACT. She held a strong Christian faith.
Surviving are her sons, John (Rita) Vermaaten, Jeff Vermaaten and Joe Vermaaten; daughters, Jody Davis (Mark), Judy Teegardin and Jerri (Kenny) Scott; 12 grandchildren, 10 greatgrandchildren; brothers, Ilem (Shelby) Weaver, George (Carolyn) Weaver and Charles Weaver; sisters, Charlene (Harold) Goss and Priscilla (Stanley) Windle; an adopted brother, Mark Rough; and several nieces and nephews. Her husband, Harry Vermaaten; son, Jimmy; a brother; and two sisters preceded her in death.
