Grand Parade kicks off 70th Festival

MILLERSPORT – The 70th edition of the Sweet Corn Festival Grand Parade brought plenty of smiles to an otherwise gloomy day. Millersport loves a parade and the enthusiastic crowd just couldn’t help having fun.

The Millersport parade opens the Sweet Corn Festival. It starts at Millersport High School and travels north on Lancaster Street in Millersport and turns east onto Chautauqua Boulevard finishing on the Lions Community Park in front of the Main Entertainment Pavilion. Featuring 18 High School Bands and a variety of other units.

Thousands of people come to the festival each year to enjoy hot buttered sweet corn served fresh on the cob and piping hot. The whole family enjoys a wide variety of delicious foods, large midway, tractor pulls, square dancing, contests galore, historical exhibits and top-name country music entertainers while strolling the shady Historic Lions Park. The proceeds from this four-day community event is a major source of income for over 75 non-profit charitable organizations operating all of the food and game concessions.

The 2016 Nashville Headliners are “God Bless the USA” singer Lee Greenwood on Friday, Sept. 2, 8:30 p.m., and country group Lonestar on Saturday, Sept. 3, 8:30 p.m., which charted more than 20 singles on Hot Country Songs, including nine that reached No. 1.

Admission is free; parking is $10 per vehicle.
