BUCKEYE LAKE – The line for Wednesday morning’s grand opening of the Buckeye Lake Goodwill store seemed to stretch forever.
“The line was clear across the building and the parking lot,” said Charles Strauch, Licking/Knox Counties Goodwill Industries executive director. Nearly 200 customers packed the store, which is a very remodeled version of the former Albanese IGA grocery store on Hebron Road.
“We made an investment,” said Strauch. Goodwill invested roughly $50,000 in remodeling, which included new drywall, paint, fixtures, and tile.
Wednesday morning’s ribbon cutting ceremony included Buckeye Lake Mayor Rick Baker; State Representative Dan Dodd (D-91st District); Buckeye Lake Director of Development Valerie Hans; Buckeye Lake Village Council members Charlene Hayden, A. Kaye Hartman, and Hilde Hildebrandt; and Buckeye Lake Planning Commission members Stacy McCloud and Bill Cassidy. The store is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and Sundays 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The store carries clothes, domestics, toys, books, and larger furniture items.
