George K. Beyer

A funeral service, to celebrate the life of George K. Beyer, 87, of Buckeye Lake, will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 27, 2012, at Criss-Schoedinger Funeral Home, 179 Granville Street, Newark, with Pastor Bob Beyer and Pastor Carol Kirk officiating. Entombment will follow at Newark Memorial Gardens, with the Licking County Veterans Alliance providing military honors. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the funeral service, from 10 – 11 a.m

George was born in Washington D.C. on March 28, 1925, to the late James V. and Beatrice (Killmon) Beyer. He passed away on July 23, 2012, at Newark-Kindred Healthcare while surrounded by family.

George proudly served his country in the Merchant Marines during WWII.

Prior to retirement, he was a cabinetmaker working with Carpenters Union #2077. He was also the owner/operator of Arena Lanes in Columbus. George was a former member of the Masonic Lodge, American Legion, Elks Lodge and Moose Lodge. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and bowling, but most important in his life was spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his children, Vern Montgomery-Beyer, Charles Beyer, Pastor Bob (Helen) Beyer, George (Rose) Beyer, Thomas (Themy) Beyer, Carol (Randy) Norris, Timothy Beyer, Patty (John) Boeshansz, and Traci Beyer; and numerous grandchildren; and great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two wives, Annabelle Dorothy Beyer and Jane Beyer; and one grandson, Thomas R. Norris.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory of George to the American Cancer Society or Jacksontown United Methodist Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
