Franklin Edwin Boyer, 92, of Thornville, died at 8:09 p.m. Wednesday, March 25, 2009, at Autumn at the Lake in Thornville

Franklin was born July 23, 1916, near Thornville, the son of the late Albert and Grace Bowman Boyer.He was the last surviving graduate of the Thornville Class of 1934. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Thornville and the Perry County Farm Bureau.

Franklin was an avid euchre player and enjoyed dining at Stacy’sRestaurant in Heath. Even though he was a retired farmer, he expanded his inherited carpentry skills with his proudest project which was a timber frame barn. He engineered and then constructed the barn with his grandson, Mike, with hand tools from his father.

Surviving are his daughter, Mary Boyer Bowen of Somerset; two grandsons, Michael (Kathy) Boyer of Thornville and Jeffrey Kauffman of Somerset; two granddaughters, Sandra Boyer Glorioso of Thornville and Jody Whitmer (Adam) Metzger of Somerset; three great-granddaughters; four great grandsons; and one nephew, Paul Febo of Washington Court House.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Eva Steele Boyer; one son, WilliamE. Boyer; an infant daughter, Sandra Jean Boyer; and three sisters, Amy Boyer, Mary Febo, and Helen Geiger.

Services were held Saturday, March 28, 2009, at Bope-Thomas Funeral Home in Somerset with Pastor Jeff Morlock officiating. Burial was in Zion Ridge Cemetery where Franklin was a former trustee.
