Floyd “Red” Romine, Jr. of Somerset, went to be with the Lord on January 21, 2015, at Pickering House Hospice in Lancaster, with his family by his side. He was born July 16, 1925, in Rutland, Ohio, the son of the late Floyd E and Cora (Saxton) Romine.
He served honorably in the US Navy during WWII, aboard the ship SS John Hope. Floyd’s love of the land and farming meant a lot to him. He and his wife operated the Triple R Trucking Company with their son David. Floyd was a member of Royalton Community Church.
He is survived by his loving family: wife, Regina M. (Conkle) Romine of 54 1/2 years; sons, Daniel Lee
(Phyllis) Romine Sr., Jim E. Romine and David G. (Robin) Romine; daughter, Mary C. Romine; brothers, Clyde (Cindy) Romine and Lafe Romine; sister, Kathy Romine; daughter-in-law, Lilly G. Romine; sister-in-law, Pamela Bennington; brother-inlaw, Claude E Conkle; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews, including special nephew, Larry Romine. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret (Rice) Romine; son, William James Romine; his brothers, Wayne, Cliford, Raymond, Derrell and Benny Bennington; and his sisters, Helen Turner, Hazel Kinsell and Lena Levane. Funeral services celebrating his life were held January 24, 2015, at the Kirkersville home of Hoskinson Funeral & Cremation Service, Pastor Larry Horn officiating.
