Fishing rodeo is a big success

Editor:

The 5th Annual Kid’s Fishing Rodeo, sponsored by the Ladies Auxiliary to VFW Post 1388 and Men’s Auxiliary was, once again, a huge success. Over $400 worth of prizes were given away.

The children and adults had a great time. They enjoyed juice boxes, hot dogs, cookies, chips, and popsicles.

Thanks to Jane Baker for letting us fish from her property; the Heath Wal-Mart for a gift card; VFW Post 1388 for a large monetary donation; an anonymous monetary donation; Pam Barr for delicious cookies, baked just right; Jeff Palmer for hot dogs, buns, and juice boxes; Z’s Village Market for all the bait; Joe Truckey for the chips; and Traci Allen for the popsicles. I aalso want to thank Tom Ekstine, Rick Vanoster, Billy Neil, Jackie Luckhaupt, Rose Shaver, Tom Rice, and Joy Pratt for helping with the sign ups, counting and measuring fish, cleaning up the fishing bank, and cooking.

Next year, our sixth, will be named the Becky Wolfe Memorial Kid’s Fishing Rodeo. This we do in memory of a dear friend, Auxiliary sister, and avid fisherman. Wish she could have been here to help. I’m sure she was watching.

God Bless Our Veterans and God Bless America

Lauralyn V. Palmer, President LAVFW 1388
