Fairfield County to update Comprehensive Plan

LANCASTER – The Fairfield County Regional Planning Commission (RPC) is kicking off a year long process to update the county’s Comprehensive Plan and is seeking input from residents and business owners to help prioritize goals, objectives, and policies for the plan. The survey may be accessed by the following link: https://s.zoomerang.com/r/PlanFairfield

A Comprehensive Plan is a visioning document that will help shape the future of the County and serve as a policy document for development decisions in the unincorporated areas of the County. It will examine a range of topics including demographics, economic development, land use, housing, transportation, public utilities, recreation and open space, farmland preservation and environmental resources.

The County’s current plan was completed in 2004. There have been many changes in the county’s land use patterns, housing stock, and infrastructure development since that time. The plan will be updated to reflect current trends and set a framework for development over the next 10-15 years.

“Public input is a vital component of plan development” says Holly Mattei, Executive Director of the Fairfield County Regional Planning Commission. “The survey results will help identify what is important today to our residents and business owners and determine their vision for the future.”

The RPC has contracted with Reveille of Bowling Green, Ohio to provide consulting services for the plan update. Paper copies of the survey are also available by contacting the RPC office at 740-652-7110.
