A memorial service celebrating the life of Eugene A. “Gene” Calewarts, age 75, of Hebron, was held June 17, 2015, at Hoskinson Funeral & Cremation Service, Hebron.
Gene was born January 25, 1940, in Green Bay, Wisconsin, to the late Joseph and Nettie (Caelwaerts) Calewarts. He passed away June 13, 2015, at Mount Carmel West.
Gene was a graduate of Premontre High School in Green Bay and was a veteran of the United States Navy. He retired from Schneider National Carriers in Green Bay after 25 years of service. He had also been employed with Diana Manufacturing in Green Bay for 16 years. Following his retirement, he was employed parttime as a bartender at Bob’s Bar in Buckeye Lake.
Gene enjoyed traveling, especially to Biloxi, Mississippi, and also enjoyed an occasional trip to the casinos and an occasional spin on the dance floor. He loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 32 years, Carole E. (Ricketts) Calewarts, whom he married July 2, 1983; two children, Steve (Annette) Calewarts of Gurnee, IL and Tammy (John) Gallagher of Pewaukee, WI; stepdaughters, Connie Keiffer and Cathie Jackson (Ed Barker), all of Hebron; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers, Marvin (Vi) Calewarts and Norbert (Marion) Calewarts, all of Green Bay, Wisconsin; and many friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Calewarts.
