Elwood D. Lewis




A funeral service celebrating the life of Elwood D. Lewis, age 90, of Baltimore, will be held on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at the Pataskala Church of Christ, 9132 Blacks Rd., with Roger Massey officiating. Burial will follow at Pataskala Cemetery with military honors being observed by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.

Friends may call at the Pataskala Church of Christ on Friday, September 1, 2017 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Elwood was born in Huntington, WV, on March 1, 1927 to the late Emsee Calvin and Blanche (McCallister) Lewis. He passed away an August 29, 2017, at Country Lane Gardens Nursing Center.

Elwood proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII. Prior to retirement, he was a welder with Central Ohio Welding. He was a faithful member of the Pataskala Church of Christ. He loved his family, church family, country music, repairing lawn mowers and his garden.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Candace and the Country Lane Gardens staff for the care, love and compassion they provided to our dad. He was loved by so many wherever he went. He was constantly smiling, joking and would break into a song for the staff when they’d least expected it. He had a wonderful disposition and attitude through his surgeries and nursing care and he showed God’s word and love by his example.

Survivors include his daughters, Anita (Bob) Lawhun, Angela (Danny) Carse, Deborah Stacy and Diana Lewis; grandchildren, Jennifer, Robert P. Jr., Kelly, Leslie, Kevin (Jennifer) and Craig; former wife, Dorothy Nice; and nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents; he is preceded in death by brothers, Calvin, Dempsey and Sonny; and sisters, Mae, Edith, Bessie and Stella.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Elwood to Churches of Christ Disaster Relief Effort, 410 Allied Dr., Nashville, TN 37211.
