Eileen L. “Blondie” Hochradel



Eileen L. “Blondie” Hochradel of Baltimore, was born Dec. 29, 1923, at Lancaster, and passed away peacefully on June 8, 2017, in Spring, TX, where she has been living for the last four years. She lived in Baltimore, where she graduated from Liberty Union High School in the Class of 1941. During her school years, she played both softball and basketball and was the first Football Homecoming Queen. Eileen worked at several of the local retail stores in our small town of Baltimore, including Stubbs Five & Dime, Bob’s Royal Blue, The Cardinal Store and Schaffner’s Tastee Freeze. Her most important job was being an amazing and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Over the years, she was a 4H leader of the Little Sprouts, a Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader, and Basil Garden Club. She was a lifetime member of the Trinity United Church of Christ in Baltimore.

She is survived by daughters, Marcia (Jim) Mastel and Theresa (Danny) Kalb; son, Jeffrey Hochradel; grandchildren, Stacy (Brian) Heppler, Angie (Rob) Martin, Michael (Ashley)

Mastel, April (Mark) Swenson, Chad (Michelle) Kalb, Joel (Amber) Kalb, Cindy (Chad) Congrove, and Josh (Tara) Hochradel; 18 great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; in laws, Violet (Estel) Miller, Bill (Susie) Hochradel, Mary Anne Harrison, and James (Margaret) Hochradel; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Hochradel; parents, Lawrence, birth mother, Trecia and step mother, Ella Fisher; brothers, Dutch Schaffner, Cecil Fisher and Raymond Fisher; baby brother, Dale Fisher; and sisters, Ladonna Laver, and Alice Schaffner.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 17,2017, at the Johnson-Smith Funeral Home, Baltimore, officiated by Rev. Jill Dunlap. Calling hours will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with the funeral service to follow. Burial will follow services at Basil Memorial Cemetery.
