HEBRON – The Licking County Sheriff’s Office and Hebron Police responded early Friday morning to the Hebron Kroger parking lot on a report of a vehicle accident with injuries.
According to a LCSO press release, Hebron Police determined that there was no accident but found a silver vehicle with several occupants parked in front of the Kroger store. When a Hebron officer approached the front passenger seat of the vehicle, he made contact with 18-year-old Zachary Luden who said he had been shot.
Before Luden was transported by Hebron medics to a Columbus hospital, deputies learned that the shooting had taken place at 5501 National Road SE in Licking Township. LCSO detectives went to the address where they interviewed several people including 18-year-old Eric Powell who lives at the address. Powell was subsequently arrested by LCSO detectives and charged with tampering with evidence and trafficking of drugs. The circumstances surrounding the shooting are under investigation and Luden’s condition is listed as critical.
