Dr. Howard Stanley “Stan” Culbertson, M.D.

Dr. Howard Stanley “Stan” Culbertson, M.D. 61 of Alexandria, LA, passed from this life May 30,2011, from cancer of the appendix.

Dr. Culbertson was a 1967 graduate of Lakewood High School in Hebron, a 1971 graduate of Ohio State University with a B.S. in Zoology (premed), and a 1977 graduate of LSU Medical School New Orleans, LA. He completed his residency in Neurology at LSU/Charity Hospital in New Orleans, LA in 1982, and became Board Certified in Neurology in 1985. He started his Neurology practice at the Medical Center Clinic in Pensacola, FL from 1982 to 2001. He moved to Alexandria, LA and continued his Neurology practice at Alexandria Neurosurgical Clinic from 2001 to 2009.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Walter Culbertson, DVM and Ruth (Buchanan) Culbertson of Hebron.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Terryl (Lavery) Culbertson; son, Cameron Culbertson and grandson, Aedyn Culbertson of New Orleans, LA; son, Sean Culbertson of Pensacola, FL; son, Dr. Brandon Culbertson DVM of Gainesville, FL; daughter, Bridgette (Culbertson) Glass and son-in-law, Jeff Glass of Summerville, SC; brothers and sister-in-laws, W. Lloyd and Barbara Culbertson of Athens, OH, J. Dwight and Barbara Culbertson of Burlington, KY, R. Wesley and Tanya Culbertson of Columbus; many nieces, nephews; and great nieces and great nephews.

A Memorial Service will be Saturday, September 24, 2011, at the First Presbyterian Church, 405 S Main St., Pataskala, at 11 a.m. Rev. Dennis Witt will be in charge of the service.

The family has designated The American Cancer Society, 1450 Peterman Dr. Suite B, Alexandria, LA 71301 and Journey Hospice, 221 Pecan Park Ave., Alexandria, LA 71303 for memorial contributions.
