Dorothy Jean (Householder) McGonagle, age 86, was born Oct. 7, 1927, to Herbert and Clara Householder in New Lexington. She passed away on January 30, 2014, in Crossville, TN. She was a graduate of Junction City High School, Class of 1945.
She worked as a secretary for the Pure Oil Refinery in Newark and then as a sales clerk for Griffen Bros. Furniture. Dorothy was a housewife and mother first and foremost. She enjoyed being in service to others and was active in church affairs. She was an officer in the Catholic Council of Women and a Minister of Care, taking holy communion to shut-ins. She volunteered for the Battered Women of Crossvill and assisted with monthly bingo at Wyndridge Health and Rehabilitation Center for 25 years.
She is survived by her husband, George F. McGonagle of Fairfield Glade, TN; sons, Michael (Carol) McGonagle of Logan and Kevin (Linda) McGonagle of North Webster, IN; daughter, Patrice Koser of Fairfield Glade, TN: eight grandchildren, Kyle and Maribel McGonagle, Kelly McGonagle, Katie McGonagle, Shawn and Megan O’Brien, Brian Mc- Gonagle, Kristen and Rick Holstead, Kyle and Rachel Koser and Kathleen and Steven Oakes; three great-grandchildren, Isabella, Aiden and Shane; brother, Donald Householder of OH; sisters, Margie (Lynn) Leitnaker of Baltimore, Mary Lou (Lloyd) Householder of FL, and Helen (Kenneth) Knipe of FL; and brother-in-law, James (Helen) McGonagle of Fairfield Glade, TN.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert Lee Householder and Clara Emily Wendel Householder; and son, Chris McGonagle.
A Memorial Service was held February 15, 2014, at St. Francis of Assisi with Father John Dowling officiating.
