Donald V. Fisher, 67, of Glenford, died November 18, 2009, at Fairfield Medical Center following a short illness. Don was born Jan. 15, 1942, near Somerset, the son of the late Wilbur K. and Roseanna Kline Fisher.
He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, an Army veteran and a member of the Somerset American Legion Leo Ryan Post 58, Thornport AmVets Post 51, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Moose Lodge.
He retired from Owens-Corning in Newark after 36 years of service where he was a wool factory superintendent. He was also a bus driver for Northern Local School Distict, a Hopewell Township Trustee, and a Glenford Village Council member. Don was an avid fisherman and loved fishing at Lake Erie.
Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Marlene R. Miller Fisher whom he married January 8, 1966; one son, Mark C. Fisher of Buckeye Lake; one granddaughter, Katrina Marie Fisher of the home; four brothers, William (Jan) Fisher of Canton, GA, Richard (Jackie) Fisher of Somerset, Paul (Judy) Fisher of Lancaster, and Thomas (Rosemary) Fisher of Somerset; one sister, Patricia (Joe) Prosek of Warsaw, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Dana Fisher of Mt. Perry; his
mother-in-law, Regina Bowman Miller of New Lexington; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, John W. Fisher (2009).
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated November 23, 2009, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Father Luke Tancrell as celebrant, assisted by the Rev. Mr. Gene Dawson. Burial was in Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery with graveside military honors provided by the Somerset American Legion Post 58.
