A funeral service, to celebrate the life of Dale R. Edmister, 89, of Thornville, was held August 28, 2012, at Criss-Schoedinger Funeral Home. Burial followed at Lutheran Cemetery with the Licking County Veterans Alliance providing military honors.
Dale was born in Mt. Vernon, on September 21, 1922, to the late Charles Frank Edmister and Pearl (McInskry) Johnson. He passed away at his residence on August 25, 2012, while surrounded by his family.
Dale proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII. Prior to retirement, he was a journeyman sheet metal worker with Owens-Corning Fiberglas. He was a member of the Brownsville Masonic Lodge; Scottish Rites; and Shriners. He enjoyed watching John Wayne westerns along with watching Chuck Norris. He was a vegetable gardener, was known as a great cook, was a handyman and could fix anything that was brought to him. He knew no stranger, would help anyone in need and he loved everyone he met. Most important in his life was spending time with his family.
Survivors include his children, Dale R. (Vicki) Edmister Jr., Charles G. (Kay) Edmister, Frank L. (Toni) Edmister, Sharon (Robert Jr.) Calvert and Roger L. (Nancy) Edmister; two sisters, Betty and Shirley; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Merror Glyn (Rogers) Edmister in February 2010; daughter, Mary Ann; son, James David; granddaughter, Isabella; three brothers; one sister; and his favorite dog, Max.
