Cranberry Bog clean-up days set

BUCKEYE LAKE – Friends of Cranberry Bog, working with ODNR’s Division of Natural Areas and Preserves, have scheduled two clean-up days this year.

They are set for the first two Saturdays in May from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The Friends and the Division of Natural Areas and Preserves are being joined by the Greater Buckeye Lake Historical Society, Greater Buckeye Lake Chamber of Commerce and Buckeye Lake for Tomorrow for the expanded clean-up. Vegetation is encroaching on the bog mat and its shade harms the growth and propagation of the cranberry plants.

Please call 740-928-1274 to help make a difference for Cranberry Bog. Last April’s vegetation removal helped preserve the bog and make it easier for last year’s approximately 2,500 visitors to see this unique natural resource.
