I stand strong for the 1st Amendment rights of every citizen including mine!
I document public meetings and upload to www.youtube.com/chorpenning. I may not agree with the tone Watch Dog Veteran Geary Stepp uses in Letters to the Editor, but admire his candid truth even with his eye patch.
Ms. Volland, on the other hand, spews blatant libel in The Beacon. Her negative name-calling declares that I am a ‘dictator.’
There is no area provided for citizens to stand for public comment at trustee meetings and be lawfully recorded without what she calls the ‘general public’ being filmed. Section 4 in the Ohio Open Meetings Act states, “ Audio and video recording of a public meeting cannot be prohibited.” A body can only push ‘reasonable rules’ so far.
Prohibiting public comments from being videotaped during a public meeting is not lawful. Resolutions forcing officials put their back to the public by Trustees Benjamin Hupp and Daniel Vanburen are the real farce. Trustee Vanburen has physically blocked video access with his body many times. Forcing cameras into a designated box has prohibited viewing public comments. It is simply unethical.
Multiple cameras, audio recordings and now sheriff’s office reports tell the real story. Alert citizens see beyond Volland’s vile sound bite.
When a Chorpenning video says ‘Full Video,’ it is unedited. Comparison can be made to the ‘official’ audio tapes for those insisting I only provide ‘bits and pieces.’
I join Geary Stepp to encourage candidates “Stepp up” for Bowling Green Township.
