Carl Lewis Skidmore

Carl Lewis Skidmore, 78 of Lancaster, former resident of Carroll, died Friday, June 5, 2009, at Fairfield Medical Center.

He was retired from the Fairfield County Road Department and a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran serving two tours of duty in Vietnam. Carl retired from the US Army as a Staff Sergeant with 20 years of service. He was a member of the Baltimore VFW Post 3761 for 28 years.

He is survived by his sons, Carl H. (Tammera) Skidmore of Lancaster and Clint E. Skidmore of Carroll; daughter, Dianna S. (Michael) Berger of Grandview, New York; two grandchildren, Heather Binner and Dana LaVigne; two brothers, Neil Skidmore and Jack Skidmore; two sisters, Shirley and Linda all of Newark; and dearest closest friend, Chris Schmeltzer of Bremen.

Caring Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held Thursday, June 11, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. at the Johnson-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, 207 S. Main St., Baltimore. Visiting hours for family and friends will be Thursday from 5-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A graveside service will be at the convenience of the family at Maple Grove Cemetery Mausoleum, Baltimore, with the Baltimore VFW Post 3761 conducting military rites at the cemetery. Memorial gifts may be given to the Village of Baltimore, Maple Grove Mausoleum Maintenance Fund, 103 W. Market St., Baltimore, Ohio 43105.
